In commemoration of the 1938 British Empire Games a lunch was held at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Attending the lunch was Matt with 1938 Games swimmer Margaret Whitlam, wife of former prime minister Gough Whitlam, Rob Woodhouse, John Konrads and Raelene Boyle.

Matt will open the 2005 Nyngan Show. Nyngan is located in Central New South Wales, 575km from Sydney and will also be attended by his wife, Eydis.

The show will be held at the Nyngan Show Grounds on 17-18 April, 9am-10pm.

Matt was on Ch 9 News talking about the claims from a European study found that chlorine gas from indoor swimming pools contributes to the increase of childhood asthma. He said the benefits of swimming outweighs any negative aspects. Sorry, couldn't get any photos :(
