Dunn's victory in the 200m medley was anything but a surprise, the 25 year olf Canberra swimmer breaking his Australian record with a time of 1:55:81.

Dunn said he had plenty in reserve for the late charge of second-placed Briton James Hickman and Dutchman Marcel Wouda.

"I was prepared for a quick swim, but I don't think they were," Dunn said.
